Sony introduces its first tablet computer

Sony Tablet computer

Sony introduced its first tablet computer this past week in an attempt to grab a hold of the market that it has been largely ignoring over the last few years allowing the iPad to dominate the market. The new tablet operates with the Android 3.0 operating system due to its good relationship with Google.

The tablets will also be able to play any PlayStation games according to the deputy president of Sony consumer products Kunimasa Suzuki who showed a photo of the new tablet during the media announcement this past Tuesday.

With a steady demand for portable technology within the office, it has been suggested that tablet computers will increasingly become standard pieces of office equipment both at home and at the office. The tablets are being referred to as simply the S1 and S2 for now and will be able to catch the internet off of Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G networks. The prices for the new models have not yet been offered by Sony although a few more details have been added such as the S1 measuring 9.4 inches and the S2 offering two 5.5 inch displays.

Sony’s goal is to reach the second spot in the tablet market by the end of the calendar year which is a lofty goal considering the fact that this is the first offering they have made to the market.
